Whitley-Williams
Ashlee Lynn Williams of Wilson and Harvey Bryan Whitley Jr. of Lucama exchanged marriage vows Dec. 10 in a 3 p.m. ceremony at Victory Free Will Baptist Church in Lucama. The Rev. Wayne Whitley officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Donnie and Valeria Williams of Wilson. She is the granddaughter of the late Robert W. Sharpe of Sharpsburg, the late Josephine S. Ricks of Elm City and the late George and Dillie Williams of Fremont. She graduated from Beddingfield High School and Mitchell’s Hair Styling Academy with a degree in cosmetology and is a hairstylist for Total Concepts Hair Salon.
The groom is the son of Bryan Whitley of Lucama and Wendy Ezzell of Wilson. He is the grandson of Hazel Pate of Swansboro, Harvey and Betty Whitley of Georgia and Peggy and John Bailey of Lucama. He attended Beddingfield High School and is a licensed plumber for Smithco Plumbing.
The bride was escorted by her father. For her wedding, she chose a satin A-line gown with cap sleeves, chiffon split front overlay, metallic embroidery and a chapel-length train.
Her elbow-length veil was adorned with metallic crystal edging.
To complement her attire, she wore a necklace which was a gift to her from her late aunt Doris W. Sutton of Elm City.
She carried a bouquet of red roses and Christmas greenery tied with white lace and satin ribbons. She also carried a handkerchief in remembrance of her great-grandmother Ida E. Sharpe of Sharpsburg.
Maid of honor was Carole J. Tyndall of Zebulon.
Matron of honor was Karen W. Evans of Snow Hill, sister of the bride.
Her attendants wore floor-length satin claret gowns fashioned with a crystal beaded flower on the shoulder.
Best man was the groom’s father.
Groomsman was Jeffrey D. Bailey of Wilson, brother of the groom.
Register and program attendant was Brandi N. Whitley of Lucama, sister of the groom.
Wedding director was Linda S. Miller of Rock Ridge.
Wedding music was provided by pianist Lynn M. Bailey of Rock Ridge and Brandi Whitley and George Mitchell, who sang “When God Made You.” George Mitchell also accompanied on the guitar. The poem “Today I Married My Best Friend” by Rachel Cooper was read by Laine W. Burdett of Newport Coast, Calif., cousin of the bride.
Following the wedding, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall hosted by the parents of the bride.
On the eve of the wedding, the rehearsal dinner was held at the Black Creek Community Building hosted by the parents of the groom.
They took a honeymoon trip to Disney World in Florida and are making their home in Lucama.
